Simon speaks about a range of topics relating to producing effective information, including plain language (‘good writing’), commissioning and managing writers, and concise information design.

A list of talks, speaking photographs, and an outline of Simon’s experience will be added here soon.
In the meantime, you can see an old list of talks on the website of Simon’s company (Nakedize Limited).
Recently, Simon has been talking about the Helpful Information Framework he has designed to expand the scope and utility of plain language.
On 31 October 2025, Simon delivered a talk titled Popularising Plain Language to 1,000 registrants from the Victorian Public Sector’s (then) 1,600-member Plain Language Community of Practice. In this talk, he made the case for a new framework that encompasses and goes beyond both the term ‘plain language’ and its common qualities (such as the ISO’s relevant, findable, understandable, usable).
On 9 June 2026, Simon delivered a shorter version of the talk at the inaugural meeting of the (New Zealand) national Plain Language Community of Practice (convened by Write Limited), this time including the latest version of the framework.
